Overview

casaCASAWORKS/S.E.A.R.I.S.E was designed by The National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse at Columbia University (CASA).  This groundbreaking program focuses on women who struggle with Substance Abuse and are responsible for the health and welfare of their children.

Mission and Goals

The mission of CASAWORKS/S.E.A.R.I.S.E. is to provide an integrated drug treatment/job training program that leads to self sufficiency.

Program Values

     We respect participants and believe in their ability to direct their own recovery.  It is the role of the CASAWORKS/S.E.A.R.I.S.E staff to serve as coach and facilitator of the participant’s personal process.

Eligibility Requirements

Any woman who:

  • Is 18 years of age or older and is receiving TANF.
  • Has custody of a child(ren) 11 years of age or under.
  • Has a Substance Dependence Diagnosis according to the DSM-IV-TR.
  • Is a current Medicaid recipient.
  • Has less than 30 days abstinent from drugs and/or alcohol.
  • Is receiving Work First Cash Assistance

Priority Populations:

Priority admission is given to pregnant IV users, pregnant women currently using drugs or alcohol, and all adult women with substance dependence who meet above eligibility.

Clients will be enrolled in a Substance Abuse Comprehensive Outpatient Treatment Program that incorporates the following:

    • Domestic Violence Issues
    • 12-Step Education
    • Health & Safety Issues
    • Parenting Skills
    • Basic Living Skills
    • Job Coaching
    • Comprehensive Individual & Group Therapy
    • Transportation
    • Childcare
